Running With a Stroller on Google Pixel Watch

I recently ran into a very specific Google Pixel Watch problem: running with a stroller.

When your hand stays on the stroller handle, the watch does not see your normal arm movement. That can make its pace and distance readings unreliable. Stryd avoids the problem by measuring your movement from a foot pod on your shoe.

Watchletic can connect Stryd directly to your Pixel Watch and use its speed, pace, and distance during the run. The watch still records your GPS route, but those live measurements come from Stryd instead of your wrist.

Connect Stryd to Watchletic

  1. Attach Stryd to your shoe and wake it by giving it a shake.
  2. Open Watchletic on your Pixel Watch and tap Bluetooth.
  3. Choose Running.
  4. Wait for Stryd to appear, then tap it to connect.
  5. Start the run in Watchletic.

Speed, cadence, and distance are enabled by default when you connect Stryd for running. Watchletic saves the pod too, so it can reconnect on later runs.
