Interval data unlocks the richer metrics.

True R-R intervals measure the time between ECG R waves and require electrical sensing, normally from a chest strap. Optical PPG sensors can estimate pulse-to-pulse intervals, but that is a different measurement. Watchletic records interval values included in the standard Bluetooth Heart Rate Service and calculates HRV (RMSSD), DFA-a1, and artifact rate on both Apple Watch and Wear OS. Most optical monitors listed here send heart rate only; Scosche Rhythm+ 2.0 is a documented exception that can send pulse-derived RRi data in HRV mode.

Pair cycling sensors with watchOS first.

On Apple Watch, connect compatible power, speed, and cadence sensors under Settings → Bluetooth → Health Devices. Start a cycling workout in Watchletic and watchOS supplies those live metrics. Direct cycling-sensor support on Wear OS is not available yet.
