Using Stryd on Apple Watch

If you use Stryd on Apple Watch, you already know there is an official Stryd app. But depending on how you train, that may not actually be the setup you want.

Watchletic gives you another way to use Stryd on Apple Watch: not as a separate ecosystem, but as a sensor and data source inside a more flexible training app.

That matters if you want to keep the benefits of Stryd's running metrics while also using a broader set of workout types, target types, and connected services.

Why use Watchletic with Stryd?

The short version is simple: not every Stryd runner wants every workout to be power-based.

Sometimes you want to train by pace. Sometimes by heart rate. Sometimes you want a structured workout from another service. Sometimes you want to use Stryd PowerCenter. Sometimes you want one app on Apple Watch that can work across all of that.

That is where Watchletic fits in.

With Watchletic, you can connect your Stryd pod and still build or follow workouts using these target types:

  • Pace
  • Pace Splits
  • Speed
  • BPM
  • Heart Rate Zone
  • Running Power
  • RPE

So instead of choosing between Stryd data and a more flexible Apple Watch workout setup, you can combine them.

What data comes from Stryd?

Once Stryd is connected to Watchletic, the following running metrics are taken from Stryd instead of Apple Watch and written to Apple Health:

  • running power
  • pace
  • vertical oscillation
  • ground contact time
  • stride length
  • distance

That means your workout can use Stryd-backed values while you still stay inside the Watchletic workflow on Apple Watch.

Extra Stryd metrics in Watchletic

Watchletic also collects and stores additional Stryd metrics that are not written to Apple Health, but are included in exported FIT files:

  • form power
  • leg spring stiffness
  • elevation
  • air power
  • impact
  • humidity

This is one of the big advantages of using Stryd with Watchletic. You are not only using Stryd for real-time workout guidance, but also keeping access to richer post-workout data.

See the data after the run

After your workout, Watchletic shows Stryd data both as averages and in the workout graph inside the app.

That makes it easier to review not just the headline numbers, but how they changed during the run. For example, you can inspect running power together with other workout data and also look at the extra Stryd-specific metrics that Watchletic stores.

So the value is not just during the workout. It is also in the details screen afterwards, where you can analyze how the run actually developed.

Works with broader training workflows

Another reason to use Stryd with Watchletic is that Watchletic is not locked to one narrow workflow.

Watchletic connects with many other external services and supports training setups that are not just centered around power. So if your overall training process includes other platforms, or if your workouts mix power, pace, and heart rate depending on the day, Watchletic can be a better fit than using a single-purpose app.

Watchletic also supports importing and exporting workouts with Stryd PowerCenter, so you can keep Stryd as part of your planning and analysis workflow too.

How to connect Stryd

To use Stryd in Watchletic on Apple Watch:

  1. Open Watchletic on Apple Watch.
  2. Go to Settings > Bluetooth > Running.
  3. Press Search and connect your Stryd pod.
  4. Start your workout from Watchletic.

Once connected, Watchletic will use the supported Stryd metrics during the workout and store the extra Stryd-only metrics for later analysis and exported FIT files.

Final words

If all you want is the official Stryd app, that option already exists on Apple Watch.

But if you want to use Stryd inside a more flexible Apple Watch training setup, with support for different target types, broader service integrations, richer workout details, and FIT exports with extra Stryd metrics, Watchletic gives you that option.
